Cheap loan for environmentally conscious Amsterdammer

Residents of Amsterdam who want to contribute to the environment are eligible for a cheap energy loan. The loan has a low interest rate of 2.61% and can be taken out for green investments such as insulation, solar panels and green roofs. The energy loan is taken out for a period of ten years and the borrower pays a combination of interest and repayment monthly.

The measure is in line with Amsterdam's policy to make homes more energy-efficient. The green loan should also be an incentive to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% in 2025 compared to 1990. “Energy costs are on the rise, so it is beneficial to have an energy-efficient house,” said responsible alderman Freek Ossel. "The municipality would like to contribute to that."

In order to be eligible for the loan, it is first checked whether the proposed measures meet the requirements and the creditworthiness is tested. In addition, only private homeowners, small landlords and people who are members of the Homeowners Association are eligible.
